Join us for a picnic!

Date: Sunday 4th July 2021
Time: 12.30pm (BST)
Venue: Highgate Wood
Age: Suitable for all

We are excited to be able to plan our first outdoor face-to-face activity since March 2020, a meet up in Highgate Wood!  This will be a chance to see old and new NLDCS families and a good opportunity for parents and carers as well as children to meet up.

We are planning this meet up for Sunday 4th July.  In case it rains hard, then Plan B is to meet instead on Sunday 11th July! Please hold both dates in your diaries!

We will meet in the grassy field (near the cafe) at 12.30pm for a picnic.

Family picnic

Please bring your own food and a blanket to sit on and let us know how many in your family are coming so that we can look out for you and make sure we keep to the rules about group sizes. In case we find more than 30 people wish to come we can organise into two groups.

Please do bring along balls and outdoor games.  We will bring a parachute.

If you have never been to Highgate Wood before please have a look at: https://www.cityoflondon.gov.uk/things-to-do/green-spaces/highgate-wood

Highgate Wood is a beautiful old wood with lots of trees to climb and log dens to play in.  There is also a playground, toilets a cafe and dogs are welcome.  Please note that bike riding is not permitted in the woods.

The woods are close to Highgate Station (Northern line) and various bus routes.  The wood itself does not have a car park but street parking is available in the surrounding area.

If you would like to join us please email zibiah@gmail.com with the names of people coming, the ages of any children and if you wish a mobile number we can text or call you on to help locate each other there. Please let us know your communications methods.

After the picnic those of us with younger children will very likely gravitate towards the playground area which is well sign posted and well loved for its sand pit and zip wire.

In this year’s festive show at the Chickenshed, a new musical version of a familiar tale is given a new twist. Over the years NLDCS members have been part of the Chickenshed production and this year we’ll see Olive acting in this performance.

A captioned, BSL-integrated performance is taking place on Saturday 7th December, for ages 5+, and Chickenshed is kindly offering our members subsidised tickets. NLDCS will provide free tickets for deaf children and their siblings, so you only have to pay for accompanying adults.

Tickets always go quickly and will be sold on a first come, first served basis. Please note they should be reserved for immediate family only, to give as many deaf people as possible the chance to see this amazing show from the allocated seating.
