Join us for Laser Quest

Join a thrilling game in the Laser Quest labyrinth, with catwalks, mazes, swirling fog, special effects, music and lights. All equipment is provided.

This event includes two laser quest games and food.

There is limited space for parents at Enfield Laser Quest, so you may be required to complete a emergency contact form if you leave the premises.

To book please complete this form and transfer your payment and your 2024 membership of £5 by Monday 18th March.

This event is open to deaf children and siblings who are members of the NLDCS.

It’s Party Time!

Mark your calendars as NLDCS hosts a party like no other to celebrate the spirit of giving and inclusivity.

Date: 3rd December 2023
Venue: Summerside School, Crossway, London N12 0QU
Time: 2.30pm – 5.00pm

We are delighted to have the incredible Layra G from Jump High, who will be adding the thrill of trampoline acrobatics, the energy of Zumba, and the magic of festive costumes, creating a high-flying, dance-tastic experience that will leave you all breathless and bursting with laughter and joy. Every jump, every move, and every moment shared supports deaf children’s dreams. Let’s make this holiday season truly special together!

We’ll have some quiet time too, with our very popular art tables full of creative fun.

As usual, to keep our costs down, we’re asking you to bring some sharing food to eat or drink – preferably finger food that doesn’t need heating up and can be eaten without cutlery. Please mark what it is, and whether it contains meat or is suitable for vegetarians. Please do not bring anything with nuts in it.

Please remember that your child/ren are your responsibility throughout the party.

The Toymaker’s Child

at the Chickenshed Theatre

Date: Sunday 17th December 2023

Suitable for age:  strictly 5+
Cost: Adult: £14 (normal price £22.50 in this peak period)
Deaf child/ren: Free (courtesy of the NLDCS)
Siblings: £7 (normal price £18.50 in this peak period)

This is a captioned performance with integrated BSL throughout.

The toymaker lives a simple and quiet life. He has just one child, his pride and joy; but (as all parents do) he worries. They often play alone and rarely bring friends home from school. Worried his child is lonely, the toymaker cooks up a cunning plan…Using a magical 3D printer, he creates an all-singing all-dancing AI child!

However, things don’t quite go according to plan when the AI child, serial number PIN:0Cch10, proves to be a bit too mischievous to handle!Get ready for a theatrical experience that will leave you spellbound.

With a captivating cast of colourful characters, big laughs and stunning sets The Toymaker’s Child promises to be an unforgettable journey. Join a talented cast of over 200 as they fill the stage with wonder, beauty, and just a touch of delightful chaos.

There is a free car park and other parking in surrounding street and a cafe onsite for snacks and drinks. Arrive before the show and have a chance to meet up with some of the other NLDCS families.

The performance time is 1hr 45 minutes including an interval.

The discounted adult tickets are thanks to Chickenshed Theatre and the NLDCS is paying for all deaf children and half the price of the sibling tickets.

The London Planetarium and Royal Observatory

We are excited to invite you to join us for a visit to The Planetarium and Royal Observatory at Greenwich.

Date: Sunday 15 October
Time: 1.15pm (show starts at 1.30) and we will visit the Royal Observatory afterwards

Cost: £5 per person with one free carer ticket per deaf child.
Age: Suitable for aged 7+ (Children under 5 will not be admitted)
Deadline for booking: Wednesday 4 October.

Due to the generosity of the National Deaf Children’s Society, we can offer an amazing discount on tickets with deaf children and sibling tickets at only £5 each with one carer free for each deaf child. Other adult tickets will also be £5, subject to availability.

You will need to arrange your own journey to Greenwich but some of us are planning to take the Uber Boat by Thames Clippers from Embankment Pier to Greenwich which takes around 45 mins and runs every 20 minutes. It will great if you can join us. (We can share more details after booking.)

Please note that there is no late admission into the Planetarium Show and no re-admission and once you are seated you can not leave until the end. Show time approximately 30 minutes. There is a hearing-aid loop system in the Planetarium.

British Library Family Day

Come and join us at the annual Family Day in collaboration with British Museum, Camden Family Learning and Frank Barnes School for Deaf Children and many more organisations. All activities are  delivered in both British Sign Language and spoken English.

Fun and creative workshops are being run by the NLDCS, Victoria & Albert museum, Sadlers Wells, Foundling Museum and many more. Pleaseclick theimage for the full programme and feel free to share with families.

The Family Day is Free and Drop-in so there is no need for families to book. It’s open between 12.00 – 16.00 though we do suggest planning for at least 2 hours to take full advantage of the activities on offer.
