A Christmas Carol at the Chickenshed

Date: Saturday 8th December 2018
Venue: Chickenshed Theatre, Chase Side, Southgate N14 4PE
Time: 3-5pm (inc interval)
Age: 5+
Cost: Deaf children & siblings free, other family members £13 per ticket

In this year’s festive show at the Chickenshed, a classic story is given a new twist as we follow Ebenezer Scrooge’s spooky encounters over the course of one unforgettable night.  The theatre company has updated, renewed and refreshed this amazing and heart-warming tale for 2018 in an entirely brand new musical version, set in 1930s Britain.

More information can be found on the website:
A captioned, BSL-integrated performance is taking place on Saturday 8th December, for ages 5+, and Chickenshed is kindly offering our members subsidised tickets. NLDCS will provide free tickets for deaf children and their siblings, so you only have to pay for accompanying adults.

Tickets always go quickly and will be sold on a first come, first served basis. Please note they should be reserved for immediate family only, to give as many deaf people as possible the chance to see this amazing show.

To reserve your place(s), please complete the booking form and send it with a cheque payable to NLDCS, to Suki Gill at by Wednesday 7th November at the latest.

It’s party time!

Date: Sunday 14th October
Time: 2.30 – 5.00
Venue: Martin Primary School
Plane Tree Walk
East Finchley
N2 9JP

For magic, mayhem and mouthwatering food, don’t miss NLDCS’s autumn fancy dress party. There will be prizes for the best costumes, plus games and activities, and we’re delighted to welcome back magician David Weeks, who performed for us a few years ago and will once again amaze and amuse adults and children with his fantastic family-friendly show.

As usual, to keep our costs down we’re asking you to bring something to eat or drink – preferably finger food that doesn’t need heating up and can be eaten without cutlery. Do mark what it is, and whether it contains nuts/meat or is suitable for vegetarians.

Please book in advance and let us know how many people are coming, and what you’ll be bringing. To book your places, contact, letting us know about any communication requirements/specific needs.

* Children remain the responsibility of their parents/carers throughout this party.

Disney’s Aladdin is being brought to life in the West End, and we’re delighted to have secured a limited number of tickets for a captioned performance at the end of September. They’re in the dress circle and normally cost £85 per person, but for this show they’re available at a special price of £37.50 for each deaf child and each carer. NLDCS is paying for deaf children’s tickets, so we’re only asking carers to pay for theirs. One carer (aged 18+) is allocated per deaf child, and additional family members will have to pay the full price of £85.

Tickets are being offered to NLDCS members only and if the event is over-subscribed, they will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, with deaf children and carers given priority.

Unfortunately time is very tight on this and we need to pay for the tickets on Monday 9th July to avoid losing them.

To book please email ASAP putting ‘Aladdin’ in the subject box and request a booking form. Booking must be done by post.

Tickets will be distributed on the night so we anticipate meeting at the theatre around 7pm. Details to follow nearer the time.
